Okay, the old version of Titan Quest allskin mods does not work at all with the Anniversary edition. It removes the Bounce thing, presumably from the creature.arc file. Since thats the only file you replace.
I picked up Titan Quest and it's expansion TQ: Immortal Throne a long time ago, and was surprised to see a 10-year anniversary edition pop up on Steam. Ten year old games from defunct developers don't usually get major updates/overhauls. It was automatically added to my Steam library so I flipped through the patch notes and downloaded it.For those of you who aren't familiar with the game: It's an ARPG (action RPG/Diablo clone) set in a mythical ancient Greece where the Titans are freed and you have to battle your way through mythological monsters in Greece, Egypt, Babylon, and China to save the world.Along with Torchlight and Dungeon Siege 2, I'd consider it my favorite take on the genre. The use of the 'real world' as a backdrop is refreshing. Though the player character is silent, every village you come to will have NPCs who chat away about their lives and tell you mythological stories. Each region is visually distinct and the maps are good looking, though geographically improbable.

Why does China need a Great Wall that's surrounded by vast and impenetrable mountains? The monsters wear the items they have equipped. There are a ton of distinct, legendary weapons and armor (along with the randomly generated stuff) so, for example, if you notice that one of the skeletons you're fighting is wearing some swanky, glowing armor, it will drop that when it dies. Monster types also have specific armor sets they like to wear.Gameplay wise. It's a 10-year-old game.Inventory management is Diablo 2. You have to have a specific amount of dex, str, or int to equip items, so you'll constantly get gear that you can't even wield. Difficulty is all over the place. My archer character will encounter a group of spider people she cuts down with ease, turtles that require about a minute to kill each while kiting five of them around the map, and then a rare creature that's literally twice my level and has a spell that heals its damage. There are nine classes and you can pick two of them, and then level up and grab abilities from them.
But classes don't always play well together. One class needs high int for spell casting and another needs high str to wield the best swords and shield, so you get a character who is ineffectual at both. It's a loot based game, but the drop rate for legendary and set items is very, very low, which means endlessly grinding the same handful of boss battles if you want some. It's not like Diablo III where you have an alternative Adventure Mode or Boarderlands where the gameworld is big and there's a ton of DLC areas.I'm enjoying playing through the normal campaign though. I expect I'll keep going until the end and maybe do Epic, but doubt I'll try Legendary.
It's held up remarkably well for an older game, and I say this as someone who tends to quickly dislike older games. Well, now's the best time, since it's still on sale. The thing about Titan Quest is that, like D2, it can be rather picky on builds and there are quite a few ways to make yourself non-viable for the endgame and not notice until you get there. On my own trip through the game a ways ago, I was able to basically bludgeon my way through the whole game only to find out that my character was completely unsuited for facing the final boss, and that would take forever and a day to scrounge up enough gold to buy the level of respec I needed.

I really like tq.

It has my most favorite class combo: Hunting/Spirit, of the spear and shield variety. So basically you're a hunter and your hunting hounds are ancient liche king and an otherworldly spectral entity. It was also nice that shield and spear was so strong, particularly with defense mastery and all the shield bash skills. There were some nice mods that added enemies and rebalanced the disciplines a bit and made playing some of the caster/melee hybrids better and some low tier skills scale better to higher lvls. I remember playing Earth/spirit auramancer in melee gear in the underlord mod.
Also I liked playing distort wave harbinger (dream/warfare) in the modded version, which would have been a big no no in unmodded because of bad dmg scaling on the distort wave basic skill.Really interested to see how they've rebalanced stuff, there were quite a few one point wonders and then skills that you shouldn't put any points in despite tree offering 12 levels for the skill.
